Linux and Unix are both good OS's for some things, but not very user friendly for operating a personal computer.

Well, I know the basics of it, I'm pretty decent and knowledgeable about computers..a friend of mine at work was telling me about it. I don't want to play games or anything on it, I just want it for browsing, and music. And from what he told me, it'd be a pretty good fit..

Can't offer a lot of expertise...
Linux is more secure and stable than Windows of course. I use Unix every day, but I haven't done anything with Linux in a while. Years ago, I attempted to partition part of my hard drive and use both Windows and Linux on the PC. It really didn't work well.

I had Linux on a computer years ago - it was ok. I dont think I'd complain if I had to use it again.
